Light support bandages provide support for soft tissue injuries and some oedema control. Light weight, high twist yarns are incorporated into medium weight bandages to offer minimal regain, resistance, and light support, but deliberately excluding all compressive type action. Light support is the most widely used bandaging option in the repertoire of clinical practice, used for post operative support where a small degree of oedema is anticipated, for the treatment of musculoskeletal injuries in which ligaments or tendons are involved, boosting the functional capacity of muscles weakened by disuse (e.g. following cast removal, RSI), and fixation of dressings with support.
